Everything about The Raleigh Icecaps totally explained

The Raleigh Icecaps were a minor-league hockey team from 1991 to 1998, as members of the East Coast Hockey League. They played their home games at Dorton Arena, located at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds, for that period of time. The impending arrival of the NHL's Carolina Hurricanes to the area, along with declining attendance in later years, prompted the Icecaps to leave following the 1998 season. The team later moved to Augusta, Georgia, where they've been re-named as the Augusta Lynx.
